The Mash Musique Approach
🎯 Individual Learning Plans
Every student is unique—so every lesson plan should be too. Greg designs a customized learning path for each student based on their goals, experience, and musical interests.
🎵 Learn the Music You Love
Music should be fun—not a chore. Greg encourages students to keep a running list of songs they’d like to learn, whether it’s a pop hit, video game theme, TV jingle, or film soundtrack. These pieces are woven into lessons alongside technical work to keep motivation high. “If you love what you're playing, you'll love learning how to play it.”
🎸 A Realistic and Supportive Start
Especially for younger beginners, Greg focuses on small, satisfying musical fragments rather than full songs at the outset. Combined with finger exercises, scales, and foundational technique, this approach keeps learning manageable and morale strong.
🧰 Resources & Tools
Greg provides all lesson materials in the format that suits each student best:
Paper notes | PDFs via email | Web links | Video recaps (via Messenger)
Students are also welcome to bring their own sheet music or method books.
Supporting each individual’s learning style, Greg uses a combination of notation systems: Standard notation | Tablature | Chord charts | Diagrams | Phonetic patterns | Alpha-numeric sequences
These tools are used to make learning quicker and more accessible. All students are taught to read the correct notation style for their chosen instrument.
🥁 Exploration Encouraged
Students are welcome to explore different instruments during their time at Mash Musique. Greg happily supports requests to split lesson time between instruments and fosters curiosity across musical disciplines.
